About

We Are Vinton

Vinton is an Architectural Metal Works execution partner.

We work with architects, engineering, consultants and clients to translate architectural ideas into built reality.

Where Architecture Meets Execution

Our work sits at the intersection of architecture, engineering, craftsmanship and execution. We bring technical discipline and creative understanding together to deliver metalwork that respects the original vision.

Our Journey

Engineering root to Architectural metalwork

The journey began in the ports, shipyards and engineering workshops that helped shape modern Kochi.

The Arackal family entered an industrial environment defined by institutions such as Cochin Port Trust. An early assignment involved strengthening and retrofitting the historic Cochin Harbour Bridge, adding welded reinforcement to a structure built with riveted steel connections. The work demanded more than technical ability. It required precision, discipline and responsibility for what was delivered.

These values became the foundation carried into every chapter that followed.

Vinton's journey in 1975

Established in 1983, Sixto & Co. became the engineering backbone of the journey that later led to Vinton.

Through contracts for Cochin Shipyard Limited, Cochin Port Trust, Tata Tetley and industrial institutions, the company delivered high-precision machining, complex fabrication and customised engineering solutions.

Shipbuilding work followed exacting Japanese, British and German engineering drawings. Delivering them required accuracy across machining, fabrication, welding, inspection and process control.

Quality was not reserved for final inspection. It was built into materials, processes and individual responsibility.

That knowledge and discipline continue to influence how Vinton works today.

Vinton's journey in 1983

Vinton Engineering was established in 2000 to carry the precision developed through complex shipyard work into a broader range of industries and project environments.

The purpose was not to leave that discipline behind, but to apply it to new materials, scales and challenges.

From its early years, Vinton worked across industrial and architectural projects. This flexibility helped it respond to varied requirements while building its own technical capability and working culture.

Vinton was forming a distinct identity: grounded in an established discipline and open to new possibilities.

Vinton's journey in 2000

Vinton's growing engagement with architecture revealed a different challenge: the distance between a strong design idea and its faithful realisation.

A defining engagement was the production and installation of prefabricated kiosks for the community water systems of WaterHealth International and WaterHealth India. Designed by Design Combines, Vinton produced, shipped and installed nearly 120 kiosks across India, together with two in Afauman, Ghana.

Making one kiosk was a technical task. Delivering the same architectural system across many locations, site conditions and teams required precision, adaptability, planning and coordination. The work taught Vinton that architectural execution demanded more than accuracy. It required an understanding of design intent and the ability to protect it across different environments, preparing Vinton for the bespoke work that followed.

Vinton's journey in 2005

As Vinton moved from repeatable systems into bespoke architectural projects, it entered environments where every detail contributed to a larger experience.

Deli at Gateway by Vivanta, designed by Fahad + Architects, became an important step in this transition. Here, metalwork had to do more than satisfy technical requirements. It had to respond to architectural character, material, lighting, human interaction and atmosphere. The project sharpened Vinton's attention to proportion, junctions, surface finishes and the relationship between each element and its surroundings. It also strengthened Vinton's ability to work within a larger project team without compromising design intent.

Vinton began to understand that successful architectural metalwork is not judged in isolation. Its value lies in how naturally it belongs to the architecture. Engineering precision was beginning to be guided by design sensitivity.

Vinton's journey in 2010

By 2015, Vinton could clearly identify the specialised field in which its capabilities came together: Architectural Metal Works.

A residential project designed by Stirvi Architects became an important turning point. Instead of delivering isolated elements, Vinton undertook the metalwork as an integrated scope, coordinating multiple solutions through one process.

The project demonstrated that detailing, materials, finishes, production, coordination and installation had to contribute to one architectural vision.

Architectural Metal Works became more than a service category. It became Vinton's specialised direction, bringing engineering discipline, craftsmanship and architectural understanding together.

Vinton's journey in 2015

By 2020, Vinton's role had evolved from delivering metalwork packages to working as an Architectural Metal Works execution partner, helping project teams carry ideas through to completion.

An important step was KOODAARAM, the pavilion created for the 2018 Kochi-Muziris Biennale. Designed by Anagram Architects, with structural engineering by Manjunath & Co., the project brought architecture, engineering, material resolution and site execution together at an ambitious scale.

As part of the wider team, Vinton contributed selected architectural and structural works. The project demanded careful interpretation, technical resolution, coordination and responsibility on site.

It reinforced the role that would define Vinton's following years: understand the idea, resolve how it could be made and remain engaged until the intended outcome was achieved.

Vinton's journey in 2018

Vinton increasingly began to participate in projects where design intent carried stronger artistic expression.

The challenge was no longer only to resolve how a work could be made, but also to understand what it needed to express.

Celestial Nest in London, Pravaah in Gujarat and In-Between in Kochi encouraged Vinton to engage more deeply with form, material, detail, craftsmanship and meaning. Working alongside architects, designers and artists required sensitivity not only to technical resolution, but also to the ideas and emotions within the work.

These experiences extended Vinton beyond resolving complexity. They deepened its ability to recognise and protect creative intent through making.

Vision

To become a trusted global reference in Architectural Metal Works by helping architects and clients create distinctive spaces through engineering, craftsmanship, innovation and execution excellence.

Mission

To deliver bespoke architectural metal solutions that respect design, solve complexity and create lasting value. We do this by combining technical discipline, material understanding, skilled craftsmanship, collaborative working and a commitment to quality at every stage.

Core values

The principles that guide our decisions, behaviour and responsibility.

Our values are reflected in how we understand, respond, respect design, uphold quality and stand behind our work.

Curiosity

We ask, explore, question and learn.

Curiosity helps us understand ideas deeply, explore materials, improve methods and discover better ways to solve architectural challenges.

Excellence

We believe quality is built through discipline.

From drawings and detailing to fabrication, finishing, installation and service, excellence is not a final check. It is a way of working.

Collaboration

Great projects are never built in isolation.

We work closely with architects, clients, consultants, vendors and internal teams to ensure clarity, alignment and shared responsibility.

Innovation

We look for better ways to create, engineer and deliver.

Innovation at Vinton includes better processes, smarter detailing, improved finishes, new materials and more effective ways of solving project challenges.

Ownership

We take responsibility for what we commit to.

Every project carries the trust of an architect and the aspiration of a client. Ownership means treating that responsibility with seriousness, accountability and pride.

Passion

We care deeply about what we create.

Architectural Metal Works demands patience, skill and attention to detail. Passion gives our teams the energy to go beyond routine work and create something meaningful.

Specialist Structural Advisory

Structural Clarity forAmbitious Architecture

Complex architectural metalwork often sits at the point where design ambition meets structural reality.

  • Forms must be feasible.
  • Connections must be resolved.
  • Materials must behave predictably.
  • Details must be buildable.
  • Risks must be identified early.

For selected complex projects, Vinton works with manjaxe_lab as a Structural Engineering Advisor to strengthen feasibility review, connection logic, material behaviour assessment, buildability, and technical risk review.

This advisory strengthens engineering decisions before fabrication and helps ambitious architectural ideas move towards execution with greater clarity and confidence.
